Summary:

Offers quality and and an R value of pads that cost 2 or 3 times as much. Light and packs very small. Very reliable valve and a breeze to inflate. Good value for money. Smart choice if you don't want to spend hundreds, but still want to keep those paramount values (like durability and comfort) in check.

I envy you right now.

I envy you because the very fact that you are looking at inflatable pads means that you are living the life I used to live and now only write about…

So, let’s see what the manufacturer had to say about their inflatable camping pad:

Klymit Insulated Static V Inflatable Sleeping Pad

  • it is made of synthetic fiber and has an R value of 4.4 ( R value is used to rate the thermal resistance, in pads it can be anywhere from 1 to 6, so 4.4 is very good)

  • contains the v-chamber design which limits the loss of heat and air movement
  • offers a unique well-designed body map
  • inflates in 10-15 breaths, which saves precious time and energy

Sound appealing, doesn’t it?

But let’s take a look at what actual users had to say about this camping pad.

The PROs:

Klymit Insulated Static V Inflatable Sleeping Pad review

  • It has a quality construction that comfortably holds the body weight without touching the floor. Folds down very small…
  • It’s wider then my old NeoAir and if you want to be able to turn comfortably, I highly recommend tha Static V…
  • Just as comfy as advertised…
  • Never felt a rock…
  • A couple of added inches of width make the world of difference…
  • So easy to inflate and deflate…
  • I see no reason to spend 3 times as much when this baby does the job just as good…hasn’t failed me once…
  • 12-15 breaths and it’s completely full…
  • It’s great that I get to choose between the insulated and uninsulated version…I got the first one just to be able to use it in the spring and fall…
  • I’ve tried side and back-sleeping the very night I got it, this blows my old pad away…
  • No more waking up to a sore back…
  • Great deal for an insulated pad. Highly recommend…
  • Very lightweight…
  • Compared to my old Nemo Zor, this pad is game-changer…
  • Comfy as promised. Much less expensive than other high quality sleeping pads, yet just as comfortable and light. The “V” design is awesome for side sleepers as it keeps you from sliding off…
  • I found it very cozy. Much warmer than I thought it would be. Supports well, which is great for restless sleepers. Quick to blow up as advertised and just as easy to deflate and pack up.
  • The air valve works like a charm. The insulation kept me warm and comfy…
  • Great R value, durable, super quick to inflate, and it’s surprisingly comfortable for such a thin pad. Warm enough for 4 season use. A great bargain…
  • Saves room in your backpack, reasonable price, great for side sleepers.
  • The pad and the gear sack are the size of a camp bottle. Small enough for me!

The CONs of the pad as per the reviews of our fellow adventurers:

  • It seemed great when I read the reviews but arrived with a hole. I guess it got damaged in the mail, but the customer service took care and I got a new one in 3 days…let’s just see how it holds in time…
  • More color options would be nice. However, the orange makes it impossible to lose…
  • Too pricey for my budget but it seems like a great value for money.
  • The lightweight makes it great for backpacking but I find it too flimsy…
  • Not as wide as I thought it would be…
  • I wish it had sleeping bag attachments…

My review summary:

Lightweight, packs very small and costs 3 times less than some of the pads that are glorified as being almighty.

Not everyone can afford to spend a fortune on gear…

A great 4.4 R value (very good thermal insulation), 5 star rating for comfort and a 48 out of 50 in the Overall Quality Rating, I stand behind my words when I say that you can hardly go wrong by choosing this pad.

It’s easy getting into the trap of getting the cheapest pad and thinking:” I’ll just replace it when it dies.” That was exactly my thinking back in the day until I realized that I as going through gear like chewing gums. At one point, I stopped and took a step back.

The thought of how much I was spending on gear scared me.

So, I changed my tactics – I started a bit more and getting products I was sure would last but were still reasonably priced. That actually cut my gear cost by 30-40%.

The Static V fits just right into that “green zone”. One of the best balances I’ve seen between, comfort and durability on one side and the price on the other.

Great value for money, in my book. Especially for side-sleepers.
