Serta Raised air mattress with a Never-flat pump in Queen size was one of the first airbeds we ever reviewed back in 2012 when we were just starting out.
Since then, the review of the Serta Raised has seen dozens of updates but NEVER “flattened out” of the TOP 10 best air mattresses.
There was even a nice long stretch last year that this bed was among the TOP 3 – that’s no small thing.
In the review of this Serta we’ll go over what never-flat means in the first place, we’ll go through the specs, main PROs & CONs of the bed.
Most importantly, we’ll compare it’s ratings with the currently top-rated mattress.
What is Never-Flat?
Current ratings of the Serta Never-Flat
This month’s review update finds the Serta Never-flat at place #7 with the ratings of 84/100.
Review of the Serta Never-flat air mattress
Along with the Serta EZ model, that also features the Never-flat pump but is a price level above, this Serta air mattress is one of the few models that’s still holding it’s own in a changing market.
Fact sheet of this Serta air mattress:
- Available sizes: twin and queen
- Available versions: with or without a padded pillow top
- Materials: Vinyl
- Two pumps: the main one that inflates and deflates the bed and the never-flat (the Never-flat pump stays plugged in through the night and adds air when it detects changes in pressure)
- Coiled inner design: 21 coils act pretty much as a spring coil would in a regular air mattress (coils beat beams in air mattresses every day of the week, they distribute weight better and make for sturdier edges)
- Auto shut-off feature of the primary pump turns the pump off when the bed is fully inflated
- 1 Year Warranty
Serta Never-flat vs. currently top-rated airbed
Excerpts from tester reviews of the Serta Never-flat air mattress:
PROs:
- It is easy-peasy to set it up. I have serious back problems and they persist even on my own expensive regular bed. I woke up with no pain in my back and I couldn’t stop boring people around me by talking about this bed…
- Haven’t had this good of a night sleep in a long time…
- This bed is very sturdy and you can easily forget you are actually on an air bed and not a real one…
- The pump is great and fast…make note that the noise you will hear the first time you inflate it is not the noise you will hear when adding air…the re-pumping is as quiet as refrigerator humming and it only takes a few seconds…
- I slept on this bed for a full month now and I can honestly give it a 5 star review and say that it is outstanding…
- I’ve been using airbeds as my main bed because of back problems and I’ve always been a fan of the brand. I had like, 5 of them so far and this is the best Serta Air mattress I ever slept on, hands down…
- Perfect design of the pump and an amazing ability to hold air…TIP: when you first buy this Serta air mattress the bed leave it inflated so that the material stretches nicely
- The presets on the pump were a great plus for me…I just position it and leave it to be pumped…
- I have a friend who was in a car accident and needs a really good bed, he paid $2500 for his regular bed and then returned it when he got this Serta bed…that explains it all…TIP: a memory foam or a nice blanket under the linen is a good idea if the room is cold since this air in the bed will be heating of of you and make it seem chilly…
- All my previous airbeds had one thing in common – they leaked air…finally, a bed with no issue of that sort…
- The pillow top ads that little extra comfort to bring you the feeling of sleeping on a luxurious bed…
- I had 3 airbeds before this and this one is by far the best…
- Easy to use and easy to move around…holds air for days without topping off, unlike my old Intex Comfort…
- I spent hours if not days searching for the right bed, both online and in Wall-Mart and I can say honestly that this is the best air bed you will find..
- I was amazed at the quick shipping…
People who were less pleased with the Serta never-flat air mattress:
- A slight odor develop when you unpack it and stays in the room for hours…
- Mine developed a small hump on the lower part of the bed…luckily it is on the side and it doesn’t bother me so much
- I would be happy with more pre-setts instead of just 3…
- I got a flawed one the first time around…had to return it and get a new one…
