Top 5 Best Rated Full (Double) Sized Air beds 2

So, you are looking for that “sweet spot” in air beds sizes. Twin is too small for you, and queen is too big, and you need the in-between solution. If you are, I’ve got you covered with this comprehensive guide on the best rated inflatable beds in Full (double) size (54×75″).

Just FYI, when I started researching for this guide, I realized something I wasn’t aware of – quality air bed in this size is probably the hardest to find. They don’t seem to make as many of these as Twin or Queen.

Anyway, here’s what you and I are going to go through in this guide:

  • We are going to take a look at a synoptic table of the 5 winners
  • We’ll take a deeper look at each of them in digest reviews
  • We’ll draw our conclusions

By this end of this guide, you will be fully equipped with information to make a calm, informed decision.

Let’s go…

SimplySleeper Raised Air Bed

With it being BY FAR best rated inflatable beds in Full size, this one is hard to critique. Simply because it comes dangerously close to perfect and at a very reasonable price, price that pleasantly surprised me. And if one could get it on a discount, it’s a steal.

I know the industry, the materials, the pumps, the manufacturing locations and believe me when I say that beds of this quality will usually cost 2 or 3 times as much.

SimplySleeper Raised Air BedLet’s look at the fact sheet of the inflatable mattress:

  • easy to automatically inflate and deflate using powerful integrated pump (600W) in no more than 3 minutes
  • Durable and sturdy (new innovative PVC used, trademarked by the name DurmothaneTM)
  • Oval coil construction for better weight distribution and added comfort
  • puncture resistant materials (three layers)
  • soft finish
  • Full 100% 1 year warranty

The PROs – the positive reviews of users:

  • never leaks…
  • best bed on the market in the price range, I am sure of it…
  • you can see how well it’s made the moment you unpack it…
  • looks great and feels durable, I’ve had it for 6 months and no complaints…
  • just great support and comfort…
  • best night’s sleep I’ve had in months…
  • I only add air once per week for 30 seconds…
  • this is the 4th air bed in my lifetime, and by far the best…
  • I like the smart design of the cord storing inside the bed…
  • My wife suffers from insomnia and I got this for her…she sleeps much better than on our expensive regular mattress..
  • so easy to inflate, deflate, pack, store…
  • this is a premium product and it’s a true bargain for the price…
  • much, much better than my old air bed…
  • worth every penny…
  • the best material I’ve ever seen in an air bed and I’ve been camping for 30 years and probably had like a dozen of them…
  • everything I expected for an air bed…

The CONs – the negative reviews:

  • plasticky odor can linger around your room for days, even weeks…
  • too firm for my taste, I had to add a foam topper…
  • it was damaged right out of the box…

My reviews resume:

I’ve been reviewing air beds for years, and I can tell more about an air bed from reading the negative reviews than the positives. It’s almost as a matrix code for me by now. When I see that all people complain about are issues that are a matter of taste (firmness, color) and things that are short-lived (odor) I know that I have a winner right there.

And that’s what this inflatable is – A WINNER.

It’s fairly new to the market, so it still needs to pass the test of time. But if they don’t do something dumb, like outsource it to a shady location or decide to raise the price (I’ve seen that once too often), I see this bed shaking and baking the market for years to come.

Solid 8.6/10 stars for this eye candy.

Simmons Beautyrest 16 ” Double/Full Hi-Loft Express

One of the strongest and sturdiest babies out there, it supports up to 700 pounds. I can’t remember the last time I saw this. On the other hand, it does it “with grace” by also providing comfort (smart horizontal beam construction assures it). Great balance between the two paramount values – durability and comfort.

Simmons Beautyrest 16-Inch DoubleLet’s look at the specs:

  • thick construction (heavy duty vinyl) supports up to 700 pounds
  • horizontal beams for better weight distributions and comfort that matches a high-end regular bed
  • no tipping or sliding – extra wide base and sure-grip materials
  • soft velour top
  • adjustable firmness levels at a touch of a button
  • powerful and fast internal pump inflates the bed in minutes
  • weighs 20 lbs

Let’s see the customer reviews:

The PROs:

  • sleeps two heavy adults like it’s nothing…zero air loss…
  • extremely comfortable…expect to sleep like a baby…
  • it holds it’s firmness for weeks without adding air…
  • like I’m back in the womb…
  • Perfect choice for side and restless sleepers, adjustable firmness is a life saver…
  • great customer service…for some reason my bed started loosing air within few months, I just called them and they sent me a new one, no questions asked…
  • very firm and stable, no sinking to the middle of the bed like we used to in our old air bed…
  • easy to inflate, deflate, store and carry…good value for money…
  • I haven’t been sleeping well for years now, until I got this bed. I used to toss and turn through the night, I guess it has something to do with the fact that I found just the right firmness…

The CONs:

  • rubbery smell stays with the bed for days…
  • it’s lower than I expected…

My review resume:

This is a great bed. I was hesitant to include it on the list at first. But then I dug a bit deeper, visited some darker corners of the web, and there was no doubt about it, this bed deserves a place in the top 5 list.

It’s smartly designed to avoid tipping, it’s one of the most durable pieces out there and still engineered for comfort. I’ve seen reports of occasional leaks, but once I researched the quality of their customer service, that became a mute point.

High quality, reasonable price and a well deserved place in the top 5.

Airtek 2ABF04006 Raised Memory Foam Air Bed

Now, this is slick design. You read reviews about cold rushes of air that people feel with air beds, and you see others advising them to use a foam topper. And then you see Airtek coming to the market with an air bed that includes a foam topper out of the factory.

The first thought is: “Why isn’t everybody doing this?” My answer is:” I don’t really know, but they better start because this model is fairly new and it’s already crushing it.”

I am sure it’s a matter of months before some of the bigger players copy (cough, cough) , get their inspiration from this model and make one of their own.I’ll be prepared to look at what they come up with.

But until then, let’s take a closer look at this baby:

Airtek 2ABF04006 Raised Memory Foam Air Bed with Built-In PumpThe fact sheet:

  • fast and powerful built in pump
  • 0.75 ” think memory foam top – forget the cold rushes and enjoy the extra comfort
  • Giga valve for an ultra fast deflation (under 1 minute)
  • Repair kit and light duffle bag included
  • maximum weight support 600 lbs
  • thick PVC (0.4 and 0.6mm) for added durability

The PROs – the positive reviews of the inflatable:

  • I slept on this bed for 3 weeks with virtually no loss of air…
  • amazingly fast shipping, the box was on my porch the next day…
  • easy and simple controls, easy to handle…
  • great comfort…the top foam makes all the difference…
  • I have serious lower back problems , and this bed is just right for me, keeps my spine aligned when side sleeping…
  • it sleeps just like a regular mattress…
  • just the right height…
  • much better than what I was expecting for the price…
  • the bed works just as they advertise it…it’s refreshing to see this these days..
  • after 6 months of every night sleep it didn’t change a bit…
  • great value for money…
  • just high enough for me to be able to get on and off with ease…
  • sturdy edges…they sit just like a sofa and I don’t sink to the middle like I used to with my old Coleman…

The CONs:

  • it leaks…I sent it back and waiting for a replacement…
  • my order got lost somewhere…

My review resume:

There are a couple of models with a foam topper already built-in, and this one is the best. Two kinds of people will be getting this bed:

  1. those who sleep in cold rooms and have an issue of cold air rushes
  2. those who love to pamper themselves and are not a fan of products that call for buying more products (like foam toppers) to complete the experience

I belong in the later group, and if I had the money to spare, I would probably get this bed just to “test-drive” it.

AirCloud Safari 14-Inch High Butterscotch Vanilla

I’ll be frank here – this bed is not as good the other ones on this list, but as I said, with full sized beds, the choice is very limited, so this bed qualified primarily on the basis of price. It is a good budget solution, it’s often discounted and we like that, don’t we? 🙂

AirCloud Safari 14-Inch High Butterscotch Vanilla Safari Print Inflatable Air BedLet’s see the basic fact sheet:

  • remote inflation to 14 ” height
  • i-beam construction (ergonomic)
  • carry bag included
  • soft velvet top

What the users are saying:

The PROS:

  • great to look at…refreshing to see something like this in the beiges and blues…
  • great guest bed, inflates and deflates in minutes…
  • I’ve had it for 6 months and so far so good, I add air every 2-3 days…
  • I have fibromyalgia and air bed is the only way I can get a good night’s sleep…so far so good…
  • everybody who came over and slept on this bed ended up getting one for themselves, and I do mean everybody…
  • the height is just right for getting on and off easily, which is important in my age…
  • no more hand pump for me, I’m happy that I finally replaced my old Coleman…
  • very comfortable for an air bed…
  • packs small and it’s very easy to store…
  • loving the colors and the soft finish…
  • my old air mattress would “swallow” me into the middle during the night, this bed stays nice and firm throughout…
  • a real piece of eye-candy and a great price…
  • everything I need from an air bed…
  • If you find it discounted, it’s a steal…

The CONs:

  • I slept on it just a few times and it developed a huge bubble in the middle…I guess the internal chambers popped or something…
  • It deflates in a few hours, and I can’t find a leak…
  • The pump is big and too bulky…

My reviews resume:

As I said, I was hesitant about including this air bed on the list because it was right there on the borderline of the criteria I have set. When I say this, I am primarily referring to its ability to hold air.

Having said that, it still is a good deal if you can get it discounted. To make everything simpler – don’t pay more than a 100 bucks for this AirCloud.

Intex Pillow Rest Classic Air Mattress

The name of this Intex says it right – a classic. On the market for years and still going among the best rated. No matter what hi-tech solutions the industry comes up with, this inflatable bed will always have a faithful customer base – those who like things simple and minimalist.

Intex Pillow Rest Classic Air MattressThe specifications:

  • for home use, includes built-in pillow
  • vinyl air beams for extra sturdiness and support
  • powerful pump (built-in) inflates the bed in under 3 minutes
  • 12 ” raised

The PROs – the positive reviews:

  • very cheap for the quality…I’ve been using as a guest bed for over 2 and a half years….
  • light and easy to handle…
  • I add air once a week max…
  • easy to set up and even easier to put it away…
  • stores very small…
  • solid old-school basic air bed…why would I pay 3 times as much for “makeup”?…
  • 2 minutes set up…
  • got it so cheap and it exceeded all my expectations…better than both my previous air bed that cost twice as much…
  • I have a $1200 regular mattress, and this bed does the same thing for me as that small fortune in my bedroom…
  • simple plug-and-play…
  • I love the fact that I don’t have to worry too much about damaging this bed…it’s cheap and I toss it left and right and let my kids jump on it, and it’s a survivor…
  • I expected this bed to be long gone and forgotten by now. I judged by this price and expected something that would like or just completely pop in months…I got it in October 2012 and still using it…

The CONs:

  • not high enough…
  • internal chambers broke in mine and it’s now just a big air tube…

My reviews resume:

I’ve read some suspicious reviews and spent a lot of time doing research about Intex outsourcing. What I’ve learned is that there are models that are outsourced to locations I know for a fact can mess with the quality of the products.

That’s not the case with this one. In fact, you won’t see any of those products here because this is the “BEST air mattress guide” website after all.

Overall, this product is solid. Basic features but well made and well worth the little money it costs.

Ratings – 7.9/10  stars.

Final thoughts

Of all the guides that list the best rated beds by size, this one was the hardest to compile I guess it’s just a market size thing, it seems that most people either go Twin or straight to Queen.

I also made an effort to diversify the list, include two budget solutions and 3 really high quality beds, so that you can find something that will both fit your room/tent and your wallet.

If you are in the market for a Full sized bed and I helped a little, it was worth it.

Take care and sleep tight,

James

Recently purchased in Nov. 2014 the Simmons beauty rest inflatable mattress. The inside compartments are breaking down making the mattress more rounded than square. I went to Walmart they only would accept a problem for the first 15 days after a purchase. What do you suggest ? Do you have a number or website for this factory ? Thanks, CAC

      Hey Charley,

I tried finding this for you and failed, I kept ending up on websites that carry the bed but didn’t find the website of the company.

      Sorry I couldn’t help
